Living Wage
All staff and lecturers at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) receive compensation in accordance with the Central Java Regional Minimum Wage (UMR), as stipulated in the Governor's Circular Letter Number 561/0017430 concerning the Structure and Scale of Company Wages in Central Java in 2024. This commitment is further strengthened by the Joint Decree of the UMS Chancellor and the Daily Advisory Board Number 99/IV/2019 concerning UMS Employee Remuneration. In addition, the UMS Chancellor's Decree Number 16/VII/2024 regulates the increase in basic salaries for permanent lecturers and permanent education staff. Thus, every lecturer and education staff receives allowances for food, family, health, and transportation, as well as holiday or year-end bonuses paid monthly.
Benefit and Financially Support
In addition to the base salary, UMS staff receive various additional benefits designed to support both financial and overall well-being. These benefits include transportation allowances, spouse allowances, child allowances, rice allowances, attendance incentives, meal money incentives, overtime incentives, as well as holiday or year-end bonuses. These benefits ensure that UMS employees can maintain a decent standard of living and meet their family’s needs.
UMS is also committed to providing the best healthcare services for its academic and non-academic staff through the Muhammadiyah Medical Center (MMC). The clinic services at MMC include general check-ups (including sexual and reproductive health consultations), dental and oral health care, and physiotherapy services. In addition, UMS collaborates with BPJS Kesehatan to provide health insurance for all employees. UMS also offers a Health Fund to cover healthcare expenses that are not included in BPJS Kesehatan coverage.
UMS's structured compensation and benefits policies affirm its commitment to fair labor practices and living wages, in line with regional standards and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This approach not only meets legal requirements but also supports the social well-being of employees and contributes to a more sustainable economy in Central Java.
Eliminating Gender Pay Gaps Policy
At UMS, there is no differentiation in salary based on gender. Salaries at UMS are determined based on the level of education and the length of service within the university.
